SHARYN MADDER

Sharyn Madder has lived in Alphington for over 30 years and has spent countless hours wandering around the local parks and along the creeks and rivers, watching and sketching the natural environment at different times of day and in different seasons.

Over the past 18 months she has regularly shifted her attention to the human aspects of life in lockdown, attempting to entertain herself and her family and friends with slightly black-humoured illustrations.

Sharyn has worked for many years as an illustrator and free-lance educational/natural history artist for such organisations as Melbourne Zoo, Melbourne Museum, the Gould League, Parks Victoria, The Marine Discovery Centre, Vox Bandicoot and for many Councils, publishers and individuals.

Sharyn is part of the Alphington Open Studios artists collective.

Originals of many of the works on the fence are available for sale. Please contact us on 9499 7227 or email info@alphington.org.au to find our more.

Sharyn shares an intimate familiarity with the natural forms that populate her scenes, vistas and vignettes.

This interest continues and remains the main focus of her work, expressed sometimes in stylized and whimsical representations and other times in realistic and careful detail.
