There are lots of opportunities to volunteer at Alphington Community Centre. Here are some ideas. And if you have an idea of your own just give us a call on 9499 7227 or send us an email.
Community lunch is on the 4th Friday of the month in school term. Join our small team of volunteers that work with staff to prepare the meal. Others come along to set up the room. Then others help out with dishes and pack up. If you’d like to be involved in helping us run this great community building regular activity please call or email.
Be connected digital tutoring
If you have some computer skills yourself and would like to share them with community members who are not yet confident navigating their phones, computer and tablets you could become a Be Connected tutor. Give us a call.
For 6 weeks each term we run access all abilities bowls in partnership with, and, at Alphington Bowls Club. Each week we need 4 people help Mark and Jill get the equipment out and pack it away, direct traffic, make morning tea.
If you’d like to volunteer to help us run this program please call or email.
Help keep our garden ship-shape. We have a group of volunteers who come together on a Friday morning to manage our garden. If you’d like to join in please call our office or join the group here.
This group turns local produce into jams and preserves at 10am on the 1st Friday of the month during school term. Using donated jars this group is actively recycling and minimising ‘food miles’.
We sell our jams and preserves at our big events, use them for gifts and send a jar home with each person who comes along. You can join this group here.
Twice a year we letterbox our brochure. If you enjoy a walk around the neighbourhood you might like to help us. Just email and we’ll add you to the list and recontact you at the right time.
